Car accessories are one of the strongest categories on AliExpress and one of the easiest to get wrong, because almost everything in it has a compatibility question attached. A phone mount is universal. A dash cam mount, a trim panel, a screen surround and a wiring harness are not.
This page lists what is discounted now, then covers how to check that something will actually fit and work in your car before you pay for it.

⚠️ Compatibility: check it properly, not by the photo
The listing title will say something like “for Toyota Corolla 2015-2019”. That is the seller’s claim, and the same part is often listed under thirty model names. Two checks make it reliable:
- Match the generation, not just the model name. Manufacturers change interiors mid-cycle. A 2018 and a 2019 of the same model can have different screen bezels and different mounting points. The year range in the title is the thing to read carefully.
- Ask the seller with your exact details. Year, model, trim level, and for anything electrical the engine or the existing head unit. Sellers answer these questions and the answer is in writing if there is a dispute. This is the single most useful thing you can do in this category and almost nobody does it.
For anything that plugs into the car’s diagnostic port, the relevant question is different: the socket is standard, but the protocol is not. Most petrol cars from 2001 in Europe and 1996 in the United States support OBD2, and most diesels from 2004. Older than that, and a cheap reader will connect to nothing.
Power: what the cigarette lighter can actually give
The accessory socket is usually fused at 10A or 15A, which at 12V means roughly 120 to 180 watts total. That is the ceiling for everything plugged in at once, and it is why a kettle, a compressor and a cool box on one splitter will blow the fuse.
Two practical notes:
- Air compressors are the usual culprit. A good one draws close to the whole budget of the socket on its own. Run it with the engine on and nothing else plugged in.
- On many cars the socket is dead with the ignition off, and on some it is always live. This decides whether a dash cam can record while parked, and it is worth knowing before you buy one that advertises parking mode.
By item: what to check
Dash cams
Resolution is the least useful number on the listing. What matters: whether it records to a microSD card and what the maximum card size is; whether it has a capacitor rather than a battery, because batteries swell and fail in a hot car and capacitors do not; and whether parking mode needs a hardwire kit, which most do.
Head-up displays and OBD2 gauges
These read speed and engine data from the diagnostic port and project it onto the windscreen. They work well and they are genuinely cheap here. Check your car’s OBD2 support first, and check whether the model needs a reflective film on the glass — some do, and the film is what makes the display readable in daylight.
Phone mounts and chargers
The lowest-risk purchases in the category. For mounts, vent clips are fine for light phones and sag with a heavy one in a plastic vent; suction mounts fail in heat; the adhesive dashboard mounts hold best and are the hardest to remove. For chargers, look for a stated PD or QC standard rather than a wattage claim with no protocol behind it.
LED bulbs and interior lighting
Interior and ambient lighting is easy and safe. Headlight bulbs are a different matter: fitment is by a specific base code (H7, H4, H11 and so on), beam pattern matters more than brightness, and in many countries an LED retrofit in a housing designed for halogen is not road legal and will fail an inspection. Check the base code and check your local rules before buying.
Trim, covers and organisers
Seat covers, boot organisers, sunshades and floor mats are good value, with the usual warning: measure. “Universal” seat covers do not fit seats with side airbags or integrated headrests, and a cover over a side airbag is a safety problem, not a fit problem.
What to buy locally instead
- Anything that carries a load — tow straps, jack stands, roof bars. The failure mode is not inconvenience.
- Brake and engine parts. Not worth the saving and frequently counterfeit.
- Oil and fluids. Heavy, restricted to ship, and you cannot verify the specification.
- Jump starters, with care. They are popular and mostly fine, but the stated capacity is the cell rating — expect roughly 60 to 70 per cent of it in practice — and they ship by a slow restricted route.
The things people complain about afterwards
- It did not fit. Nearly always a generation mismatch within the right model. Asking the seller first prevents it.
- The adhesive failed in summer. Dashboard adhesive needs a clean, dry surface, a warm day to cure, and a full 24 hours before any load. Most failures are fitting.
- The fuse blew. Too much on one socket. Add the wattages before you plug in a splitter.
- The dash cam stopped recording. Usually the memory card. Cheap cards fail fast under constant rewriting; a decent card is the best upgrade to any cheap dash cam.
- The screen is unreadable in sunlight. Common on budget HUDs without the reflective film fitted, and on cheap mirror-mount displays generally.
Frequently asked questions
Will an OBD2 gadget work on my car?
If it is a petrol car from 2001 onwards in Europe, 1996 onwards in the United States, or a diesel from 2004 onwards, almost certainly. Older than that, probably not.
Are LED headlight bulbs legal?
In many countries, not in a housing built for halogen, and they can fail a roadworthiness test. Check your local rules before buying — the bulb working is not the same as the bulb being permitted.
Can I leave a dash cam recording while parked?
Only if your accessory socket stays live with the ignition off, or you fit a hardwire kit. Check which your car does first.
How long does delivery take?
Two to five weeks on free standard shipping to most countries, three to seven days on paid express from a local warehouse. Anything with a battery ships by the slower route.
The short version
Message the seller with your exact year, model and trim before buying anything that mounts or plugs in — it takes a minute and prevents most of the waste in this category. Add up the wattage before loading the accessory socket. Buy a decent memory card with any dash cam. And leave anything that holds weight, stops the car or goes inside the engine to a local supplier.
